Biography
Early Years, Ancestry, Family and Education
Ronald Stevan Trujillo was born at the old St. Vincent Hospital (now the Drury Inn) on December 6, 1968. He is the only child of Onesimo “Moose” Trujillo Jr. and Edwina Marie Trujillo. His ancestry is primarily Native American and Spanish. He is proud and honored to be of multiple cultures and a true Mestizo.
His grandfather, Onesimo “Moose” Sr. owned farms in Chimayo and Truchas. It was here that Ron came to understand the importance of agriculture and animal husbandry in economic terms and its’ impact on human labor. His paternal great grandparents lived in the house that is now the Chimayo Trading Post in Espanola. The Trujillo family still owns the home and runs the business.
When Ron was 18-years old, his father was diagnosed with stomach cancer and would ultimately succumb to the disease six months later. His father had been his mentor, confidant, and coach. The loss was devastating and resonates to this day. Ronnie, like his father, was deeply involved in organized sports. He later would coach and umpire for many years in the YAFL and the Little League National and AABC baseball.
Ron was educated at Kearny Elementary, DeVargas Junior High, Santa Fe High School, Santa Fe Community College and New Mexico State University.
